We understand how important it is for everyone to meet socially for their health and well being at this special cultural and festive time of the Indian calendar. Hence, as an alternative to our normal Diwali Dinner & Dance, we have planned a FREE virtual Facebook LIVE interactive concert with singers and artists. This is for all local and overseas communities enjoyment on Saturday, 21st November from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
We are dedicating this event to our chosen Charity: Time To Talk Befriending ; excellence accredited befriending charity tackling loneliness through friendship, connection and engagement. A worthy charity in light of current global situation. Please phone 01273 737710 or email the charity if anyone wishes to donate, use or provide their own time and services. We also want to take this opportunity to promote: Bags of Kindness / Bags of Kindness Facebook Group , a group which supports, encourages and inspires individuals, communities and businesses to donate Bags of Kindness on Birthdays, Anniversaries and Special Occasions to support the local community and bring us closer together. They have been for a long time generously supporting groups from the homeless to the elderly community.
This event is being achieved with support from Brighton & Hove County Council whilst working together with ‘Indian Colours’ , The Chattri Memorial Group and other interested local organisations of the ‘Brighton Indian Community’. So, please make a note of this in your diaries and share with all your friends and family in UK and abroad to watch on 21st November 5pm (GMT)
Sussex Indian Punjabi Society is again supporting the beach clean up group; Surfers Against Sewage on following dates, times and locations. Note different start location/times to previous beach cleans. I will endeavour to be at start times. Observe latest COVID19 guidelines; eg Keeping to social distancing and limit groups to 6. Look forward to support from anyone who might be interested.
Bags/Gloves/Pick sticks : If you have these, please bring your own for social safety reasons and in case stock available for volunteers are limited.
Lets show Brighton Indian Community cares passionately about our beaches and are available to help during these difficult and unusual times. Currently council resources are stretched and social behaviour a bit poor from some not taking their rubbish back home if bins full.

The Sussex Indian Punjabi Society, Gujarati Cultural Society, Indian Colours, Brighton & Hindu Community and Brighton Malayalee Association got together as a community with local charity Food Matters to make donations of money and food. Food Matters is enormously grateful for the donations of money, time, vehicles, food (and egg boxes) that have been given towards the city’s emergency food response. Below is the link to a press release from Food Partnership website in response to our ‘Brighton Indian Community’ support.
