Virtual Chattri Memorial Service 2021 – On YouTube Sunday 13th June 2.30pm

Virtual Chattri Memorial Service 2021 – On YouTube Sunday 13th June 2.30pm

Letter from Chattri Memorial Group:-

Dear Friends

Further to my email on 26th March when I informed you that the Annual Chattri Memorial Service was cancelled, I have some good news. Some of you replied and suggested we hold a virtual type of Service instead, not unlike the one we conducted last year. This was an excellent suggestion for which I’m very grateful. Therefore, I’m pleased to say that we have managed to hold a small Service, which will be shown on You Tube.
I am grateful to Brighton and Hove City Council for their financial backing and we were able to film it under Covid restrictions.
The short film of the Chattri Memorial Service will be shown on Sunday 13th June at 2.30 pm, the date and time when it would have taken place under normal circumstances. The link will also be available on our website, www.chattri.org or you can activate the link below on Sunday.
The link is: https://youtu.be/uy7c-noOZII
Please share this link with family and friends. In addition, a brief history of the Chattri history can also be found at the website.

I hope you will be able to virtually join in the Service and pay your respects in your own private way.
I’m sure you will appreciate that we have continued holding the Annual Memorial Service since 1951 when it was first started by the Royal British Legion, notwithstanding the challenges posed by the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Along the way we have lost family members or friends, some who regularly attended the Chattri Service and we share the loss with those affected and extend our condolences.
On a happier note, I hope we will all gather next year at the Chattri to pay our respects in our usual manner. I look forward to seeing you next year on 12th June 2022
With my best wishes and please keep safe.

Vaisakhi – ‘Feed the Community’ with Rays a Curry on Sunday 11th April, 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Brighton Clock Tower

Vaisakhi – ‘Feed the Community’ with Rays a Curry on Sunday 11th April, 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Brighton Clock Tower

Sussex Indian Punjabi Society is supporting RAYS a Curry to help feed the community to celebrate Vaisakhi this year. Due to COVID19 restrictions we are unable to organise the usual dinner & dance but we are hoping our members/volunteers can support this community initiative as a worthy replacement. If members of the community wish to support or participate, they can each help by cooking a large pot/tub of vegetarian food, enough to serve 20 people and drop off to our dedicated members; Shilpa & Pinakin Patel who run RAYS a Curry. They will consolidate & pre-heat this food before serving on Sunday to our communities at the Brighton Clock Tower. Volunteers can also request permission in advance to help distribute the food on Sunday or simply donate funds for Vaisakhi which will all go to RAYS a Curry

Preferred type of Vegetarian food: Liquid curried sauce with vegetarian ingredients like Chickpeas, Paneer, Peas, Potatoes, Soya, Kidney beans etc or Soups like Lentil Daal (Note: CHAPATI / ROTI / BREAD IS NOT REQUIRED)

Saturday 10th April – Cook & drop off food in large ‘Cooking Pot/Tub’, enough to serve 20 people to our members residence in Patcham who run RAYS a Curry

Sunday 11th April – Volunteer & help distribute cooked food with RAYS a Curry and Sussex Homeless Support

Location: Brighton Jubilee Clock Tower, North Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 3GJ

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
